CDF to receive trophies won by Lugalo in Abuja

A new chapter in Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) sporting excellence will be re-written today when victorious Lugalo Club ladies hand over golf trophies to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) in Dar es Salaam today.

The team won the trophies in the continental class tournament held recently in Abuja, Nigeria. The club’s Chairman, Michael Luwongo confirmed yesterday in Dar es Salaam that hand-over ceremony will be held early today at Ngome Headquarters in Upanga.
Led by the event’s overall winner, Angel Eaton, Lugalo golf team comprising top seeded ladies won top trophies in the IBB Ladies Open Golf Championship in Abuja, Nigeria last weekend.

Other members of the winning team were Hawa Wanyenche, Sophia Mathias, Ayne Magomba, Tayana William, Sara Denis and Rehema Athuman. Among trophies to be presented to the CDF including the overall winner’s trophy, gross winner’s trophy and the longest drive’s trophy.

Prior to their departure, the golfers promised the CDF to bring him trophies as an indication of good performance. The CDF had reminded the golfers during a flag off ceremony at Lugalo Club to work hard in Nigeria so that their club and their country gets deservedly mileage.

“I want to remind you that when you are outside the country you’re not Lugalo players, you represent Tanzania, be good ambassadors and fulfill Tanzania desire,” Said Mabeyo. As CDF promised the golfers, Tanzania People’s Defence Forces supported their trip to Nigeria and will continue supporting golf like any other sports.
